As A Man Thinks In His Heart. As a person thinks down deep so the person will be. How we think determines who we are and determines our lives. This is a universal truth. If we desire to change our lives we must first change what we allow ourselves to think.

From “I Am What I Think, Period” sermon notes
The context is a warning that we should not associate with evil people. What we can all learn is that our thoughts make us what we are. It is from the heart that thoughts come. When the Lord looks on the heart, he analyzes the way we think. We too can do this. We need to analyze what we think about. What captures most of our thoughts? The answer will tell you what you are. As he thinketh in his heart, so is he.
So Are We
We see that our heart contains the way we think. If we learn to analyze our heart, we can eliminate the need for psychiatric counseling. As a person thinketh in his (or her) heart, so is he (or she). Do you think you will never get out of debt, so are you. Do you believe you will never overcome that habit, so are you, and do you believe you can’t change that weight problem, so are you? Also, do you believe your husband will never change, so are you? Do you believe your wife will never change, so is she?
Say It Another Way
Let me do it another way. Why are people overweight? They think too much about eating. We do the “Weigh-down” class here. The emphasis is to help you stop thinking about eating. Why is a person not overweight? They do not think too much about eating. Do they think about eating? Yes they think about eating, but it is within boundaries. Why is a person an alcoholic? They think too much about drinking alcohol. Why is a person not an alcoholic? Why is a person a work-oholic? They think too much about working.
