BUILDING A HOME OR A HELL SERMON SERIES BY DELBERT YOUNG
Building a Home or a Hell is a sermon about building a home. Somehow my wife and I have been able to avoid being a divorce statistics. Our children avoided the emotional problems of a failed home. How did we do this? I am not totally certain. I am certain my wife had more to do with the success of our marriage than I. That sounds strange with all the hoopla about how the man is the one responsible for making a marriage work. Let me show you how this rolled out.

Destruction and Rejection of a Home – Why does a home fail? Have you ever pondered this thought? I am certain we could come up with many answers, but in a moment I plan to show us the one true answer. Why does it seem that praying and begging God will not save a marriage or its children? Doesn’t God care? Does God hate Me? Why does the Lord not want people to be leaders in church if their homes are in chaos? Why is it that two people can be truly in love and yet their marriage fail? Why does counseling, even Christian counseling, not save a home? What can I do to make certain my home is built to last?
Wife of My Dreams – If we men give ourselves to our wives (and children), we will experience back the wife of our dreams. It is all associated with our giving. Our giving to them and experiencing back exactly what we want is inseparable. We can experience a wonderful home with no complaints. Can we imagine that? I can. It is possible. It’s the home of our dreams.
Please Be Quiet – Before I get into the lesson, I need to ask the women a few questions. Have you ever been around another woman who talked too much? Have you been around another woman who drove people crazy talking and arguing? Of course no one here is like this, but there are women who do this. We hope to show in this lesson how a woman can rip apart her own home by not knowing when to be quiet.
Can You Do Anything With My Child – A child must see his or her parents dedicated to each other and dedicated to God. The strongest families in the kingdom of God are the families who’s members are dedicated to one another. My family is dedicated to one another. We love one another. Because we are dedicated to one another, my children have a proper understanding of being dedicated to the church and dedicated to the Lord. The family must be a priority and the Lord must be a priority. It’s not “either or” with family and God. It’s “both and” when it comes to family and God.
Sex in Marriage – I want you to see today: (1) In the heart of man is a desire to cleave to his wife; (2) Mankind was created to not be ashamed of their nakedness; (3) sexual desire properly channeled is good, not evil; (4) Sex in marriage should be fun and undefiled.
Achieving Singleness Before Marriage – The time between childhood and marriage is called the time of singleness. It is the time when we discover who and what we are. It is the time we begin to fulfill the will of God for our lives. We find purpose. In the purpose we become truly single. God’s will consumes us. What God did to Adam at this time was interrupt Adam’s life and present him with somebody. Adam was busy with the purpose of God. It’s a time of singleness.
