Acts 2:17 “‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men [neh-an-is’-kos: a youth] will see visions, your old men [pres-boo’-ter-os: elderly, senior] will dream dreams.
Acts 2:18 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.
God has PROMISED to put a dream and a vision into every heart. It’s a spiritual thing. Also, it’s neither gender specific – all people both men and women. Neither is it age-specific – young and old. The young person is to see it as a vision for victory. The older person will look back to see if they have lived their dream. This dream is uncovered, ignited, flamed, and fanned by prophecy.
THERE IS A CORE DESIRE
There is a core dream/vision – in your heart that was placed there by God himself. It’s a dream down deep inside of you to succeed and prosper and enjoy life to the fullest. Also, it’s a dream to do something specific for God and, at the same time, do something specific for your own self. Certainly, it’s at the center of who you are. It’s been there all your life. The fulfillment of it will give you the ultimate joy and the maximum personal success. It’s the spark that will get you out of bed every morning, and it’s the motivation that will get you through tough times. It’s the dream.

LIFE MAKES SENSE
when we grasp The Dream. Questions are answered. “Why am I here? “What is the meaning of life?” “What is my purpose and destiny?”
THE DREAM IS GOD’S PERFECT WILL FOR YOUR LIFE.
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
God’s perfect will for your life is wrapped up in your dream. Your dream may be to become a doctor, a teacher, a mother, an astronaut, the president, the wealthy, a preacher, a builder, a wife, etc.
Tell you a joke. A woman about to be married had the dream of marrying the perfect man and then being happy ever after. The woman’s aunt said let me give you ‘Five tips for happiness.’ 1. It is important that a man helps you around the house and has a job. 2. It is important that a man makes you laugh. 3. It is important to find a man you can count on and doesn’t lie to you. 4. It is important that a man loves you and spoils you. 5. It is important that these four men DO NOT know each other.
That won’t bring happiness, but your dream will.
God wants us to reach down deep inside and direct our lives by the dream we find there. It’s God’s plan for your life. It’s God’s plan to prosper you and give you a hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
God’s plans for you are wrapped up in the dream deep inside your core.

HOW MANY HERE BELIEVE THERE ARE
some things that God has put in your heart to accomplish and those things will bring you joy and success?
A PROBLEM THAT MANY PEOPLE
run into is they can’t filter out their dream from the clutter of life. I want to help you realize your dream. Let’s begin the filtering process with some thought questions.
What would you do with your life if there were no obstacles of finances, location, education, age, nothing?
What is it that when you think and talk about it, your eyes twinkle?
And finally, what would you be doing with your life if you were not getting paid for it?
Unless you came up with a sin, your God-given dream is somewhere in the previous answers.
I WANT TO ENCOURAGE YOU TODAY
to realize and reach for your God-given dream. Reach for the stars. We need to make our lives count. The solution is we need to chase our dreams. So, reach deep inside.
Harry Kemp said, “The poor man is not he who is without a cent, but he who is without a dream.”

WHEN DREAMS DIE
When dreams die we lose our passion for life (a better description is when a dream becomes dormant for they never die until we do). Next, we become miserable, grumpy, critical, and judgmental people. Then, we go through life only existing. Certainly, we have no motivation because we have lost our vision for life. At church, we begin coming late. Then we begin missing. So, we loose our passion for bringing people into the kingdom. Next, we stop giving to the kingdom. Eventually, we are no longer excited about God. Some eventually stopped attending. So, we become depressed, sick, and even suicidal.
Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
Happy people keep stirred in the dream for life. Maybe you have been through some tough times. Maybe you have been through a divorce, sickness, lost your job, or the death of a loved one, or financial difficulties, or having problems with a child. The enemy has used that difficulty to push down your dream and hope. What I want to tell you today is that if you will discover and chase your dream, life will be good.
GOD REALLY WANTS TO GIVE US OUR DREAM.
(TLT) Psalms 37:4 Be delighted with the Lord. Then he will give you all your heart’s desires.
(Amplified) Psalms 37:4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires {and} secret petitions of your heart.
How many have some secret things you want to accomplish for God and for yourself? It’s the dream and it gives life meaning. It’s God’s perfect will for your life. You’ve got to reach down deep inside and delight yourself in the Lord. He will bring the dream in your heart to reality.

“DELBERT, I DON’T HAVE A DREAM.”
No. The dream is there. It has simply been pushed down deep for some reason.
Remember Moses? At a young age, Moses had a burning dream in his heart to deliver Israel. In his fervency, he killed a man. Fear and rejection caused Moses to run from his dream. Life and circumstances caused the dream to be pushed down deep inside his heart. It seemed dead, but it wasn’t. One day God sent a burning bush to Moses and that bush caught the dream in his heart on fire again.
Exodus 3:4 When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.”
I WANT TO BE A BURNING BUSH
for you. God needs your dream to live and burn again. You need your dream to burn again. If your dream is dormant, all you will accomplish is helping someone else’s dream burn hot. Moses had spent 40 years making his father-in-law’s dream happen. But if your dream flames, it will take you to your destiny and to what you were born to do. You can make all the excuses you want, just as Moses did, but God is determined to set you on fire again.
“OH DELBERT, I’M TOO OLD“
We seniors think that sometimes don’t we? We think we have crossed some age line that can stop God from fulfilling the dream and vision that he gave us. You are not too old.
Richard Bach said, “Here is a test to find whether your mission on earth is finished: If you’re alive, it isn’t.”
Remember Sarah. God put a vision in Sarah’s heart to give her husband a child. For years and years that dream motivated Sarah. She wanted it so badly that she even encouraged her husband to have a baby with another woman. Finally, Sarah thought she and Abraham were too old. But one day the Lord himself, along with two angels came to visit Abraham and Sarah.

Genesis 18:14 Is anything too hard for the LORD? I will return to you at the appointed time next year and Sarah will have a son.
Your dream may be only a year away. Don’t stop reaching now. Is anything too hard for the Lord? You may laugh, as did Sarah, but I want to tell you today that God can birth your dream. Sarah, you will hold your dream. Now, there are some things you will have to do to embrace it that no one else can do for you. You will have to spend some time with Abraham, but if you will do your part, the dream will happen. You are not too old.
“I TRIED IT ONCE, BUT IT FAILED.”
In fact, it was the biggest mess I ever experienced.” So? Does that mean the dream isn’t true? Abraham tried it once with Hagar and it was a horrible mess, but the dream was still true. The enemy will try to get you discouraged with a counterfeit. Satan doesn’t want your Isaac to be born. Is ANYTHING TOO HARD FOR THE LORD? Try it again and again and again.
THE DREAM WILL CARRY US THROUGH DIFFICULT TIMES
Remember Joseph the dreamer?
Genesis 37:19 “Here comes that dreamer!” they said to each other.
God put a dream in Joseph’s heart at a very early age. Because of the dream in his heart, Joseph could never be satisfied with tending sheep and living in a tent. Joseph had a dream to sit on a throne and to do extraordinary things.
Joseph appeared rebellious and spoiled. He wasn’t. He simply had a dream.

PARENTS AND YOUTH LEADERS
let me encourage you to help young people find their dreams. You may have a dream for your child, but is it the dream that God gave the child? Jacob’s dream for Joseph was not Joseph’s dream.
Genesis 37:10 When he told his father as well as his brothers, his father rebuked him and said, “What is this dream you had?”
My son Lance is extremely intelligent. He’s like his mother. Learning has always come easy to them. He was very popular in school. He was the student body president and graduated among the top in his class. Judy and I had a dream of him being an entrepreneur or doctor or even the president. But that wasn’t TOTALLY the dream God had given to him. His dream was to be an entrepreneur, but also to be in the ministry. As Jacob did to Joseph, we had to bow to his dream. So, we sent him to seminary. He graduated summa cum laude. He did well in school, but when he hooked up in his dream, he was at the very top.
Today he works with me in the ministry. I asked him if he was fulfilled. He is, but where Life Gate is today is not his dream. He has a dream to advance the kingdom further than my dream. His dream is not only to see a church that hell itself cannot stop, but also in “entrepreneur-ing” ways bless and advance the kingdom.
Our daughter’s dream was to dance.
She also had a dream of a big house, nice clothes, nice cars, and to have children. So, she married someone with a similar dream who became a lawyer. Today she has two dance studios, lives in a $400,000 house (which is just a stepping stone for them), wears designer clothes, and drives a $40,000 automobile. By the way, she has two of the most beautiful children in the world.
Parents and youth leaders, if you can help your children find the dream, they won’t have time to rebel and cause trouble. They will be too busy reaching for their dream. A rebelling child is searching for who they are and meaning in life and those answers are in the dream down deep inside.

Joseph’s parents could have saved Joseph from a lot of heart ache and prison time had they understood that Joseph needed to chase his dream.
We pastors and businessmen and businesswomen need to realize this too. If we have a church member or an employee that is unhappy, we need to realize that if they are not fulfilled it is because they are not chasing their dream. Help them chase the dream in their heart. They are helping us chase ours.
JOSEPH WAS ABLE TO GO THROUGH THE REJECTION
and circumstances of life because he was somehow able to see God taking him toward his dream. I can hear Joseph saying, “Egypt? That won’t be too bad. At least I won’t be chasing sheep and living in a tent.” He was able to endure the years of heartache and prison because he was somehow able to see God taking him toward his dream. Dreams are powerful. The dream will take a little shepherd boy living in a tent to a throne and a palace.
I BELIEVE THAT MANY OF US WOULD RATHER BE DOING SOMETHING ELSE WITH OUR LIVES.
You have dreams, but for whatever reason, you have shelved them. Have circumstances sidetracked you? Has a family member or friend convinced you to follow another course? Did you think you needed a real job? Maybe you were afraid there was no money in your dream. If you are not happy and fulfilled then something has diverted you.
DID YOU SET OUT TO BE WHAT YOU ARE?
When your first-grade teacher told you to color a picture of what you wanted to be when you grew up, did it look anything like what you are today? Have you ever wondered what ever became of your dream?

My point is somewhere along the road of life most of us settled for something other than what we wanted. We needed a job. Eventually, we fell in love and got married and had to take the first job that came along. Some experienced the lure of money. Our parents thought we would be better off doing a different profession. There are a million reasons for settling for something other than your dream.
I want to encourage you today. God has a plan for your life beyond anything you have asked or thought, but you will never experience all God has for you until you reach down deep inside and unwrap your dream.
I WANT TO MAKE CERTAIN WE UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG
with what you are doing right now. That is unless you are a slothful lazy person doing nothing. But imagine if you will that after your time on earth is done you are standing before the Creator of all things. He smiles at you and he is glad you are there. You smile at him and you are ecstatic that you are there. Then he asks, “Why didn’t you trust me? Why didn’t you step out and follow the dream I gave you? I had so much more abundance planned for you, but you wouldn’t step out in faith and trust me. You wouldn’t reach down deep inside and trust the dream.” We have to trust the Lord.
Psalms 37:4-6
4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
God wants your life to shine like a bright and brilliant noonday sun. That’s how he sees you. He said that if you would DELIGHT in him, COMMIT your way to him, and TRUST in him that he will do this for you.

The Lord wants you to believe for your dream. Can you? Can you believe for it just a little today?
Luke 17:5 The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”
Luke 17:6 He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.
Can you believe that much that God will take care of you if you begin to reach down deep inside today and chase your dream? You have mustard seed faith, don’t you?
I don’t know exactly what will happen during this series, but I do believe that some major decisions will be made. You will not be able to hear what we will be saying these next weeks and not be affected, encouraged, and challenged. For one thing, you may change jobs, begin your own business, or realize that you have settled for mediocrity. Or, you may realize you are actually living your dream. I do know that you will see life in a new way. Parents will better see how to help their children to find their God-given destinies and live their dreams. I encourage you to come. Don’t miss a week. Get tapes and CDs. Give them to miserable people. God will be speak to them and speak to you.
