Escape Theology And What It Caused and Cost

Escape Theology And What It Caused audio. At the beginning of the 19th century, a message began to be preached that had never been preached before—escape theology, i.e., rapture. It taught that the church would be presented to the Lord without any purification. Is this Scriptural?

Some Escape Theology And What It Caused Teaching Scriptures

Psalms 102:18 – 102:22

18 This will be written for the generation to come, That a people yet to be created may praise the LORD.
19 For He looked down from His holy height; From heaven the LORD gazed upon the earth,
20 To hear the groaning of the prisoner, To set free those who were doomed to death,
21 That men may tell of the name of the LORD in Zion And His praise in Jerusalem,
22 When the peoples are gathered together, And the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.

1 Chronicles 10:13 – 10:14

13 So Saul died for his trespass which he committed against the LORD, because of the word of the LORD which he did not keep; and also because he asked counsel of a medium, making inquiry of it,
14 and did not inquire of the LORD. Therefore He killed him and turned the kingdom to David the son of Jesse.

Esther 4:13 – 4:16

13 Then Mordecai told them to reply to Esther, “Do not imagine that you in the king’s palace can escape any more than all the Jews.
14 “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place and you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?”
15 Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai,
16 “Go, assemble all the Jews who are found in Susa, and fast for me; do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maidens also will fast in the same way. And thus I will go in to the king, which is not according to the law; and if I perish, I perish.”

A portion of the Message:

What began to happen was around the turn of the century, there became a theological change. Church theology differed from what it was before the turn of the century. And, and I’m not gonna prove this to you. I think you understand I know enough about church history to know I’m telling you the truth. Around the turn of the century, a message began to come forth that had never been preached before, and Christians readily consumed it. It’s called the Escape Theology or we could put it better—the rapture.

First, this does say there will be a catching away, and we will go and meet the Lord in the air, and that will happen. Please don’t misunderstand what I’m saying. This will take place, but it had never been preached this way. It began to increase and change at the turn of the century, saying Christians would not go through tribulation or purification. My personal belief is that I don’t believe that we can have a New Testament Church, a New Testament Christianity, as we read in the Book of Acts, without some purifying persecution.

I think there’s a specific environment that is required to bring about that kind of purity, that kind of a commitment where if I die, I die.

So, here comes this message, and it’s suddenly an escape message. The Church won’t be going through anything. And so what I want to do real quickly is show you what this escape theology brought. This is what happened in the spirit. This is Satan. To me, this is Satan’s plan.

This began to be taught, and it was readily accepted. 1920 became an age called the Roaring Twenties. Godly morals began to go down. Divorce rates began to go up. People started hearing things and seeing things not seen or heard before.

This moved on to the 1940s when the Depression began. Liquor was made legal and readily available. Things such as pornography really began to come forth in the forties. Divorce rates climbed higher, and the murder rate began to go up. Christians didn’t battle such issues because we were leaving in the rapture, and the Church had little to say.

Escape Theology was preached and taught more fervently.

Can you tell me what landmark decision happened in 1962? Prayer was removed from school. Christians layed back and said, well, why do we care? We’re gonna fly away. That’s the kind of Psalms we sang when we came to church. This was our theology. We sing our theology.

Here, we sing about the kingdom, the Lordship of Jesus, and Jesus being King, creating everything, and ruling over everything. That’s our theology. So that’s why we sing about the Kingdom of God. That’s why I get so excited. And if this is your theology, then that’s what you’re saying as well. Whatever your theology is, it is what you’re singing.

Back to 1962. What we did with Escape Theology was hand our school systems over to darkness. It’s the gallus of humanism, and the enemy wants to hang you and your Children on it. Darkness now rules the school system. Our school teachers walk and that stuff every day. They walk in, and there’s a canopy of darkness.
