Ephesians Study Sermon Series. This epistle, along with Colossians, emphasizes the truth that the Church is the body of which Christ is the Head. While Paul had mentioned the same truth earlier, in Romans 12 and I Corinthians 12, he develops it more fully here. There is no higher point of revelation than is reached in this epistle which shows the believer as seated with Christ in the heavenlies and exhorts him to live in accordance with this high calling. Actually the epistle falls into two main parts of three chapters each. In Eph 1-3 the apostle tells believers what they are in Christ; In Eph 4-6 he tells them what they are to do because they are in Christ.
Ephesians Study Sermon Series
It has often been suggested that the contents of the epistle can be summarized by the three words sitting, walking, and standing. By position, the believer is seated with Christ in the heavenlies (2:6); his responsibility is to walk worthy of the calling wherewith he has been called (4:1); and this walk is further seen as a warfare in which he is engaged against Satan and all his hosts and in which he is exhorted to stand against the wiles of the devil (6:11).

2. Ephesians Study 2 – Grace
Do we understand the grace of God? Most people equate grace with mercy. Grace is not God’s mercy. We are not saved by mercy. We are saved by grace. So, we need to understand the grace of God and what the grace of God means.
3. Ephesians Study 3 – Predestined
Apostle Paul said we are predestined. The reason we are predestined is to the praise of the glory of His grace. We didn’t choose Jesus. God, the Deity – the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, choose us and predestined us.
4. Ephesians Study 4 – Redemption
We have redemption, but what does redemption mean? It’s something we have through the blood of Jesus Christ. Sin carries with it a fantastic dept. The wages of sin is death. The blood of Christ works redemption – the release from slavery or bondage.

What do you think about “eternal security”? The Greek word used in Ephesians 1:13 translated “sealed” is used 42 times in the New Testament. The word means to stamp with a signet to keep secret. There is a stamping or marking upon a Christ Follower.
6. Ephesians Study 6 – Prayer of Paul
We take a look at the prayer of Paul for the Ephesians. Paul thanked God for these people. Paul prayed they would have a spirit of wisdom, the eyes of their heart be opened, they would see the greatness of the Lord’s power, and they would understand how Jesus Christ is set far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named.
