Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Direction

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Direction teaches surrender to God’s leading through the cloud over the tabernacle. When the cloud moved, Israel journeyed; when it stayed, they rested. Their greatest struggles arose from movement, yet God used stillness to shape their trust and raise a faithful generation. The lesson is clear: divine direction requires patience and obedience, whether moving or waiting. True surrender is keeping the Lord’s charge without murmuring, resting in His presence until He calls us forward.

Introduction: Following the Cloud

Turn in your Bible to Numbers chapter 9. Before we begin this section, we will read verses 15 to the end of the chapter, which will summarize the topics we will discuss for the remainder of the chapter. We’ve got so many translations, but I’ll just read. I’m reading King James. Someone says, ‘Why did you go back to the King James version?’ I really don’t know. It’s so beautiful. It sounds like God. And I don’t know. I reached the point where I was quoting some scriptures, and I noticed some NASV coming in, and it didn’t sound right. I like to quote scriptures from the King James version. So I’ve gone back to reading the King James version.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

Numbers 9:15-23

15 And on the day that the tabernacle was reared up the cloud covered the tabernacle, namely, the tent of the testimony: and at even there was upon the tabernacle as it were the appearance of fire, until the morning.
16 So it was alway: the cloud covered it by day, and the appearance of fire by night.
17 And when the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after that the children of Israel journeyed: and in the place where the cloud abode, there the children of Israel pitched their tents.

18 At the commandment of the LORD the children of Israel journeyed, and at the commandment of the LORD they pitched: as long as the cloud abode upon the tabernacle they rested in their tents.
19 And when the cloud tarried long upon the tabernacle many days, then the children of Israel kept the charge of the LORD, and journeyed not.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

20 And so it was, when the cloud was a few days upon the tabernacle; according to the commandment of the LORD they abode in their tents, and according to the commandment of the LORD they journeyed.
21 And so it was, when the cloud abode from even unto the morning, and that the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they journeyed: whether it was by day or by night that the cloud was taken up, they journeyed.

22 Or whether it were two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud tarried upon the tabernacle, remaining thereon, the children of Israel abode in their tents, and journeyed not: but when it was taken up, they journeyed.
23 At the commandment of the LORD they rested in the tents, and at the commandment of the LORD they journeyed: they kept the charge of the LORD, at the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses.

Faithfulness in Stillness and Movement

There is some repetition in this passage, but that highlights its importance. Whenever a section of Scripture repeats itself, it signifies that a significant point is being made. The Word of God does not repeat things without a reason; repetition is a way for God to stress an important point.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

This passage about the cloud is clear and concise. It explains what happened when the cloud moved or stayed put. If the cloud moved, the people moved. If it remained, the people stayed, rested, and set up the tabernacle. The instructions were simple—follow the cloud’s movement or remain still when it was stationary.

Testing During Movement vs. Rest

When did the Israelites face the most difficulties, during times of movement or rest? It seems that anxiety and problems, such as plagues and complaints, arose particularly when the cloud was moving and the group was traveling. Moses also faced his most significant challenges when leading the people in movement, rather than during periods of rest.

Most of the time, the cloud sat still. There is encouragement in this, and the message is clear: God used these periods to transform His people. He was removing one generation and raising up a new one that would trust Him, whether they were on the move or at rest. The lesson is that God wants a people who remain faithful and do not complain regardless of their circumstances.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

God is raising up a generation that will obey Him and take care of the tabernacle, whether they are moving or staying still. Their focus is to do what God has charged them to do. Those who complain or murmur reveal themselves, and God sends a plague to deal with that behavior.

Now let’s talk about the cloud. The cloud in Scripture stands for the presence of the Lord and His angels. As we study, you will see a progression. First, the cloud comes to lead you. Next, Moses tries to enter the cloud. Then we come to the place where we want the cloud within us, so that God truly dwells in our tabernacle.

That is where I want us to go. It is beneficial to let God lead, and it is helpful to desire closeness to Him. But even greater is to prepare a place for Him to come and fill us, so that His presence lives within us. That sets the direction for our study tonight, and now I will begin to explain these truths.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

Principle One: God’s Presence Before the Journey

Exodus 13:20-22

20 And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.
21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:
22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

Let’s look at Exodus 13:20. The people of Israel left Sukkoth and camped at the edge of the wilderness, near Etham. God led them by day with a pillar of cloud and by night with a pillar of fire. These signs did not leave them as they journeyed. The cloud gave direction during the day, and the fire guided them at night. God’s presence was always there, leading them on their way.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

The first principle that stands out is the presence before the journey. Before the Israelites crossed the Red Sea, God’s presence was already leading them. The word “pillar” means column—it stands up tall, perhaps looking like a tornado. And the word “fire” really means fire, not just a glow. God showed Himself as a real fireball, a burning pillar, moving before the people.

God Draws Before Full Commitment

Before anyone truly enters God’s kingdom, something leads and draws them forward. Even before making a full commitment, there is a sense of being pulled toward God. I remember reading the Bible in bed, feeling that strong draw before I ever prayed the sinner’s prayer. Many people feel this same pull—their thoughts are wrapped up in God, and they sense a fire within, unlike anything they have ever known. This presence leads them to a point of decision, a crossing from which there is no turning back.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

Sometimes, when we see someone being drawn to Jesus, we want to help. We fear that they might slip away before God fully gets a hold of them. Many of us feel this way, especially when it’s someone we care about. We think, if we step in and help, maybe they will get “hooked” for good.

But that is not how it works according to Scripture. When God is truly drawing someone, they cannot escape, even if they try. The fire and the cloud fill their mind with thoughts of God. If it is God working, they will make the decision—they will cross their own Red Sea. Sometimes we worry it isn’t God, so we try to help make it happen. But if God is the one drawing, nothing will stop it. In fact, too much help may push them away. We can answer their questions or offer some support, but we cannot force them to come if God is not truly drawing them.

The cloud appears in someone’s life before they ever step into the wilderness. Before a person leaves their old life behind, while they are still in Egypt, God is at work. His presence is there, leading and pulling them forward. Jesus said that no one can come unless the Father draws him. The first principle is this: the cloud comes before the wilderness. God starts leading and drawing a person before they ever reach the edge or take their first step.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

Principle Two: God Protects from the Enemy

Exodus 14:19-20

19 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:
20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.

Exodus 14:24

And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,

The second thing I noticed comes from Exodus 14:19. The angel of God was leading Israel, but then moved behind them. The pillar of cloud shifted from in front of the Israelites to behind, standing between them and the Egyptians. The cloud created darkness for Egypt but brought light for Israel. It kept the two camps apart all night, and in the morning, God troubled the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and cloud.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

This passage indicates that it was not only the Lord but also His angel who was present in the cloud. Together, they placed themselves between God’s people and the enemy—between the world, Satan’s army, and those crossing the Red Sea. Before I truly entered a wilderness time with God, while leaving the old life behind, Satan tried his hardest to keep me back. He made a final attempt before I could cross my Red Sea. But God stood between him and me, making the crossing simple—like walking on dry land.

Crossing over into God’s kingdom, many doubted I could do it. People thought it would never happen. But when the cloud of God draws someone, nothing can stop it. God comes between that person and the world, between Satan and all his powers. When God is at work, it’s easy to make that step—just like crossing the sea on dry ground.

That is the way God works. The cloud starts leading and drawing long before the wilderness walk begins. The angels are involved, too, protecting God’s people. Pharaoh tried to stop Israel, but the Lord and His angels kept them safe. If God is truly dealing with someone in our family or church, nothing can stop them from coming in. All we need to do is love and minister to them; if God wants them, they will come.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

Principle Three: God’s Provision in the Cloud

Exodus 16:10-12

10 And it came to pass, as Aaron spake unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud.
11 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
12 I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God.

The third principle is derived from Exodus 16:10, where the people looked toward the wilderness and saw the glory of the Lord in the cloud. God heard their complaints and told them they would have meat in the evening and bread in the morning. This way, the people would know He is the Lord.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

One thing I’ve learned about the cloud is that it always brings provision. Wherever the people followed God, He provided for them. This happened for forty years. God’s presence—the cloud and His angels—always supplied what the people needed. If we follow the cloud, God will take care of us. Problems come when we stray from God on our own paths. That’s when His provision grows scarce.

As long as we seek God and follow Him, He will supply our needs. He gave the Israelites meat and bread every day. He took care of them, morning and night. Now, here’s something important: even when the people complained for forty years, God still provided for them. Their complaints kept them stuck in the wilderness, but God continued to give them what they needed. Murmuring can stop us from reaching His best—the riches of the land, the milk and honey. But as long as we follow the cloud, even in difficult times, God will provide.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

Principle Four: Hearing God’s Voice in the Cloud

Exodus 19:9

9 And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD.

Exodus 19:16

16 And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

God’s Purpose in Speaking from the Cloud

Exodus says that on the third day in the morning, there was thunder, lightning, and a thick cloud on the mountain. The voice, as the sound of the trumpet, was loud, and the people in the camp trembled. The main principle here is that to really hear God’s voice, you need to be in the cloud. Following the cloud puts you close enough to hear what the Lord is saying. God spoke from the cloud, and His purpose was to help the people believe.

It is easier for someone to believe that I am hearing God if they are also hearing Him. If the Lord speaks the same thing to us both, it builds our faith and provides confirmation. When someone comes to me and says, “I heard the same thing from the Lord this week,” it is clear we are following the cloud. It helps us trust that we are all hearing the voice of God together.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

When people truly follow the cloud, they will hear the same guidance. Often, if I think I am hearing the Lord but no one else is, I will wait. I want to make sure we are hearing the same message and are truly following the cloud together. The principle here is clear: if we’re following the same cloud, we should hear the same voice of God.

The cloud is with us even before we cross over into new places. God’s presence leads and draws us from the start, guiding us before we ever take our first step.

There are angels in the cloud, working alongside God. The cloud stands between us and the devil’s attacks, making sure we safely cross into God’s promises.

Provision comes with the cloud. When we follow God’s leading, He supplies our needs. As long as we remain with Him, He will continue to provide for us.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

The voice of the Lord is found in the cloud. If we stay near and follow God, we hear Him clearly. Finally, there is a revelation of purpose in the cloud. God not only guides and provides, but He also reveals His purpose for our lives as we journey with Him.

Principle Five: Revelation of Purpose in the Cloud

Exodus 24:18; 25:1, 8

18 And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.

Exodus 24:18 tells us that Moses went into the midst of the cloud and climbed up the mountain. He stayed there for 40 days and 40 nights. Moses was not rushing. He remained in God’s presence for nearly a month and a half. There was no hurry to leave the cloud. This shows the importance of waiting on God and spending time in His presence.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

Exodus 25:1

1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

Instructions for the Tabernacle

Exodus 2-5:8

25:8 And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.

In Exodus chapter 25, God speaks to Moses and tells him to have the people build a sanctuary. The purpose of this sanctuary is clear—God wants to dwell among the people, not far away in heaven. God desires to come down and live with us, right where we are. We often talk about being with God, but He says He wants to be present here on earth with us. We are supposed to create a place for Him to dwell with-in us.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

The New Testament says we are the tabernacle, the temple of the Holy Spirit. God wants us to prepare a space for Him to inhabit. In the cloud, Moses received a revelation of purpose. God gave Moses detailed instructions for building His dwelling place, down to the size and details of every piece. The cloud was the place where Moses saw what needed to be done. It was the source of the specifics and clear vision for building the tabernacle.

A primary purpose for Israel’s journey through the wilderness was to construct a place for God to dwell. That same purpose applies to us. Our time in the wilderness is meant to prepare us to become a dwelling for God. The reason we may not have entered the fullness of God’s promises is that we haven’t yet become a tabernacle for His presence. The cloud reveals what needs to be built in us so God can live with us. When Moses was in the cloud, everything else faded away except God’s instructions and purpose. That is the focus God wants for all of us.

When you enter the cloud, a shift occurs. Before this point, the cloud has dwelled with us, providing guidance, speaking to us, and leading us. However, there is now a progression—you are no longer just led or spoken to by God. Now, you are in God. In Him, you live, move, and exist. Everything becomes clear and focused when in the cloud. All distractions fade, and God’s purpose stands out sharply.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

Many people have experienced moments like this, where being in God’s presence makes everything in life clear and understandable. Directions and details for what you’re supposed to do become obvious, and you know exactly what God wants. During these times, the cloud doesn’t just surround you—it fills you, and nothing distracts from His instructions and plans.

However, coming down from the mountain, or out of the cloud, brings challenges. The presence can fade when people start turning away or getting involved with the wrong things—like building golden calves, as in the story of Moses. After having clarity in the cloud, you may face confusion and doubt, questioning if God ever truly spoke. Even so, those experiences in the cloud remain unforgettable.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

When we move into the midst of the cloud of God’s glory, we find out exactly what we are supposed to do during our wilderness times. Before moving forward, there are tasks God reveals, and they only become clear when we slow down and spend time in His presence. Being in the cloud is much like climbing into a real cloud. God’s presence fills everything, and all distractions fade. For a moment, only God and His plans are clear. Every detail stands out, and there are no doubts about His will.

Yet, when we return to everyday life, it can be difficult. We encounter people like Aaron and the golden calf—those who want what is easy and visible instead of God’s promise. What was once certain in God’s presence may become blurred in everyday life, causing us to question whether we ever truly heard God. But the experience in the cloud can’t be forgotten. Even if we wonder about what we heard, we always remember the reality of God’s presence in the cloud.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

God gives revelation and purpose in the cloud. Presenting ourselves to God is how we receive clarity and understanding. Another lesson about the cloud is that it reveals God’s glory, or nature. Moses asked God to show him His glory, and God responded by descending in the cloud and declaring His name. Many think of God’s glory as exciting spiritual experiences or outward signs, but Moses wasn’t asking for thrills. He wanted to see what God’s glory really is—a profound, visible revelation of God’s own nature.

Exodus 34:6 reveals what the glory of God truly is. When the Lord passed by Moses, He proclaimed His nature: merciful, gracious, patient, abundant in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and sin. But He also judges guilt and visits the iniquities of fathers upon children to the third and fourth generation. This is far different from the common ideas of God’s glory—it’s not about feelings or excitement, but about God’s character.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

God’s Glory as His Nature

Moses wanted to see God’s glory, and God showed it to him. It was not about outward sensations or corporate gatherings. Instead, God reveals His real nature when someone spends quiet, unhurried time in His presence. Sometimes it takes forty days and forty nights, like Moses experienced. If you genuinely seek God’s glory, you will see both His kindness and His seriousness. The true glory of God is knowing He is merciful and good, but also a righteous judge.

People who miss this understanding—who only see one side of God—may not have truly entered into His cloud or experienced His glory. You must recognize both God’s goodness and His severity. Hebrew scriptures remind us that God is a consuming fire. The real revelation of God’s nature comes when you spend deep, focused time in His glory cloud.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

Revelation 21:9

9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb’s wife.

This is the glory of God, and it is what the church is called to be. Revelation 21 describes the bride, the Lamb’s wife, which is the church. The holy city, New Jerusalem, comes down from heaven with the glory of God. The church is meant to reflect both God’s goodness and His severity, His mercy and His justice. This means understanding God’s merciful, gracious, and patient nature, as well as His righteous judgment and the reality that He does not overlook sin.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

A church that truly carries God’s glory will know both sides of His nature. It will understand that actions have consequences, but also embrace God’s forgiveness and love. The church must acknowledge that God visits the consequences of wrongdoing on the third and fourth generations. Until believers grasp both the kindness and seriousness of God, they will not leave the wilderness behind. Recognizing all aspects of God—His mercy, truth, judgment, and generational accountability—is key to moving forward.

Principle Six: The Cloud Fills the Tabernacle

Exodus 40:34

34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

The last principle about the cloud is found in Exodus 40:34, where the cloud covers the tabernacle and God’s glory fills it. This shows a journey. First, we are led by the cloud and benefit from its guidance and ministry. Eventually, the cloud’s presence fills us completely. The cloud is meant to live inside, making the tabernacle (our lives) a true home for God’s presence—not just somewhere God visits occasionally.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

God Living Among His People

The New Testament fulfills this in two ways. Each person is a tabernacle that should desire to be filled with God’s presence. Together as a church, we become a body filled with His glory. The main goal isn’t simply to follow God around or feel His presence occasionally. The goal is to be filled with Him. If God’s presence lives inside, everything else follows.

This means building a place for God to dwell, rather than endlessly wandering. When the wilderness season ends, we walk by faith instead of needing signs. The fundamental aim is not just to receive or hear God’s voice, but to become carriers of His glory, showing both His goodness and severity. God’s people must learn to accept all aspects of His nature, not just the kindness. Sometimes, people resist messages about God’s discipline, but it’s vital to understand.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

Israel learned many vital lessons by following the cloud. They learned to trust God for protection, warmth, and provision. Following the cloud taught them to listen for God’s voice and know His glory. The wilderness taught them what it means to follow God’s presence and experience His care each day.

Many times, people get upset when others want to leave and search for a “cloud” that is moving. But it is actually a principle of God to follow where the cloud leads. If people move on, they may simply be seeking God’s presence in action. Churches need to ask why the cloud is not moving among them. Sometimes, complaints, murmuring, or other problems may be the reason. Addressing these issues may enable God to move forward again.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

The Restlessness of God’s People

God’s people often struggle because everyone wants the cloud to move. Movement feels exciting and alive, but trouble happens when things stay still for too long. There are periods when the cloud remains stationary—sometimes for days, months, or even a year. When the cloud didn’t move, Israel experienced rebellion and conflict. Leaders and members alike rebelled while waiting, and each time, God sent judgment and loss. Bad things happen when a church remains still for too long.

God understands our impatience and restlessness. He knows that when the cloud stands still, anxiety and rebellion may arise. This could even be part of God’s plan to reveal hidden issues. Murmuring, complaining, and discontent can emerge when there is no progress. God may use these times to expose problems that need attention. It is never a surprise to Him when people rebel or complain during times of waiting.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

The Lord will sometimes let us sit still for days, months, or even a year without anything happening. That is the reality. When nothing changes, attendance may decline, but it is not always due to a lack of effort or unwillingness to comply. Moses went through this, too. Every day, he checked to see if the cloud over the tabernacle had lifted, signaling movement. Every day, he hoped for God’s direction but often found the cloud still in place.

Moses did everything he could, but there was nothing he could do to make the cloud move. No special ministry, guest speaker, long fast, or beautiful structure could change God’s timing. Sometimes movement would happen briefly, but then they would stop again. Moses learned, as we must, that we cannot force God to move. The cloud only moves when God commands it to move. Our job is to wait and be ready until God signals it is time to go.

Everyone knows this is true, even if it’s hard to accept. We cannot make God move just by having the best praise, worship, or people. Sometimes, despite our best efforts, there is no movement. Everything happens only at the command of the Lord. This is a biblical reality.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

The Discipline of Waiting Until the Cloud Moves

If we look honestly at the story, the cloud stayed still more often than it moved. Most days, Moses would wake up and check, but the cloud was usually resting. This means that, in our churches, we will spend more time waiting than moving. Excitement is not constant; most days can feel ordinary or uneventful. But when the cloud does lift and God moves, everything changes. There is energy and joy. Everyone gets involved, and all negativity stops as everyone prepares to move with God.

During these times of movement, people work together. The entire camp would become active—packing up the tabernacle, organizing their belongings, and preparing to set out on their journey. When God moves, the focus shifts, and there is no room for complaints or rebellion. The whole community is united by the excitement of moving forward with God’s presence.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

As a pastor, I often talk with other preachers. The question they usually ask is, “How many do you run on Sunday?” But what they are really asking is whether the cloud is moving at our church. Most of the time, my answer is no, we are sitting still. Only occasionally do I get to say, ‘Yes, the cloud of glory is moving, and we are making progress.’ But truthfully, it is normal for the cloud to be still more often than moving.

We need to understand this and accept it. Churches will not be filled with excitement and activity all the time. Most of the time, things are steady and calm, just like they are now. Sometimes the cloud moves and, when it does, we should be ready to jump in and go. But soon it will stop again, and chasing after excitement at different churches will only lead to more waiting. You can spend your whole life looking for a place where the cloud is constantly moving, but it will never last.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

When the cloud isn’t moving, we need to rest in it. We must keep the charge of the Lord. We are a kingdom of priests, which means our job is to serve and minister at the altar, even during still times. While we wait for movement, we should focus on ministering to people and keeping God’s instructions. If we do this, we won’t complain or get restless. We will stay busy and faithful in our calling.

Keeping the Charge of the Lord

Numbers 9:23

23 At the commandment of the LORD they rested in the tents, and at the commandment of the LORD they journeyed: they kept the charge of the LORD, at the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses.

Book Of Numbers 9:15-23 How to Surrender to Divine Directions

Scripture says that at the command of the Lord, the people rested in their tents, and at His command, they journeyed. Most importantly, they kept the charge of the Lord. This means doing what God has instructed you to do, especially when you are not moving. When things are quiet and not much is happening, it is our responsibility to continue doing what God has instructed us to do. As a kingdom of priests, it is our duty to minister and stay faithful to our calling, even when everything feels still.

God will provide for us, even if we murmur or complain. But if we continue to complain, we risk dying in the wilderness and missing out on the fullness God wants for us. Jesus said He came to give abundant life—far more than we usually experience. There is always more that God offers us if we continue to seek Him and follow His leading.

Conclusion: Loving God’s Presence and Remaining Faithful

In moments of stillness, our task is to keep the charge of the Lord. We must stay faithful, continue ministering, and keep our hearts ready for His movement. The key is to love God’s presence, love His moving, and remain prepared to follow wherever the glory cloud leads us.
