Whosoever Shall Have Whatsoever: How to Cultivate Desire
Scriptures: Proverbs 23:7, Mark 11:23-24, Matthew 7:7, Luke 18:41-43, Mark 10:14-15, Matthew 6:8, 2 Corinthians 10:5,
Proverbs 23:7 For as he THINKETH in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
The Bible teaches that every person is a result of his or her thoughts. No one is immune to this. Words that are not you may be coming from your mouth, but your thoughts are you and make you who and what you are. This is great insight if you use it. You can get tremendous insight into your life now, but more importantly, you can direct your life to where you want it to go. Jesus said whosoever shall have whatsoever and this is connected with our thoughts.
How does a person take a creative good thought, empower the thought, and turn the thought into reality? Is this scripturally possible? Yes, it is.
Mark 11:23-24 For verily I say unto you, That WHOSOEVER shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have WHATSOEVER he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye DESIRE, when ye pray, BELIEVE that ye RECEIVE THEM, and ye shall have them.
Whosoever Shall Have Whatsoever: How to Cultivate Desire
Jesus said WHOSOEVER SHALL HAVE WHATSOEVER. Whosoever means the lost or saved. This is a law of God and, like gravity, works for WHOSOEVER. According to the preceding scriptures, would it be safe to say that if I wanted something in my life but did not have it, the reason (at least a reason) is I have not adequately done what Jesus said to do? Or was Jesus confused about this?
Jesus said whosoever shall have whatsoever. Notice the emotions necessary in creative thinking. Jesus used terms like desire, believing, pretending you receive, etc. My point is power thinking is not a robotic formula. Jesus said do not doubt in your heart. You must put and keep your heart into this.
Jesus gave us the two principles necessary to take a thought, empower it, and create reality: (1) DESIRE (other translations say ASK); (2) BELIEVE that you RECEIVE THEM (pretend you have it). Let’s look at these two principles.
Whosoever Shall Have Whatsoever: How to Cultivate Desire
(1) DESIRE (ASK):
What do you DESIRE in life? Did you know that most people do not know? If I were to ask many of you, you could not tell me what you passionately DESIRE for your life. You may have vague ideas. You want things, but you have no desired plan to get them. Your answers are scattered, which means your thoughts are scattered, and your life is scattered. This is like asking directions to go “somewhere.” Where do you want to go? “Somewhere.” It is impossible to get directions. You need to take time, maybe one hour, to sit down and write out in as much detail as you can precisely what you desire.
“Where do you want to go? What do you want to be? What do you want to do, and what do you want to have?” Do you want another job? Doing what? Where? Making how much money? Jesus said, “Say to THIS mountain.” Which mountain? “This mountain.” Be specific. Focus on your “this.” You cannot have what you want until you know what you want.
I want a two-bedroom condominium on the tenth floor in Panama City Beach, FL. It has sliding glass doors leading out to the balcony with a view of the Gulf of Mexico. It has a big balcony area, a Jacuzzi, and a 50-inch flat-screen LCD television. Make sure what you write stirs you and makes you go “YES!”
Whosoever Shall Have Whatsoever: How to Cultivate Desire
Matthew 7:7 “ASK and it will be given to you; SEEK and you will find; KNOCK and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened
It is not only asking. Seek what you really want – DESIRE. Knock it around a little. Spend some time at the door of your life. What do you want to find on the other side?
Years ago, Judy (my wife) and I wanted to be debt-free. Amazingly, as we began to DESIRE, seek it, and knock it around, the plan we believed the Lord gave us would not only get us out of debt but also give us a new house. We got excited thinking about the possibilities. Our hearts were in it. I sat down and wrote out the DESIRE in detail. Judy drew out the floor plan of the house. I drew the exterior. One year later – ONE YEAR LATER – we were out of debt and living in that new house. We took the thought, made it a desire, and lived in the reality.
(2) BELIEVE that you RECEIVE THEM:
Get this picture: A blind man sitting along a roadside begging hears people saying Jesus is coming down the road. When Jesus gets close, the blind man calls out loudly to Jesus. Jesus had to know the man was blind, as people led the blind man to Jesus. Though evident, Jesus makes the blind man ask for what he desires. However, that was not all Jesus had him do.
Whosoever Shall Have Whatsoever: How to Cultivate Desire
Luke 18:41-43 “What do you want me to do for you?” “LORD, I WANT TO SEE,” he replied. Jesus said to him, “RECEIVE YOUR SIGHT; your faith has healed you.” Immediately HE RECEIVED his sight…
Not only did Jesus make the man ask for what he desired, but he also told the man, “RECEIVE YOUR SIGHT.” What’s up with that? If Jesus healed the man, why did the man have to receive it? Doesn’t it seem the man would simply begin seeing? Yet, he had to believe he received it before he could have his DESIRE.
Jesus said whosoever shall have whatsoever. Jesus said to believe this as though you have already received it. Why do we need to act as though we have already received it when we have not yet received it? Isn’t that a little weird? The main reason we need to do it is Jesus said to do it. However, there is a reason for the command. IN LIFE, WE DO NOT GET WHAT WE WANT. WE GET WHAT WE EXPECT. You mentally possessed nearly everything you have before you physically possessed it. Remember the law we talked about last time of AFTER HIS KIND, SEED IN ITSELF – LIKE MAKES LIKE?
Whosoever Shall Have Whatsoever: How to Cultivate Desire
What you send out is exactly what you get back. Send anger out, get anger back. If you send only desire and asking out, desiring and asking is all it can produce. You will keep on asking and continue sending out asking, but never draw back receiving. The seed of the thought can only produce seed after his kind. You need to send out receiving so receiving can come back to you. It is a law, and remember, the laws of God do not work every time. They work all the time.
Jesus said BELIEVE THAT YE RECEIVE THEM. Is Jesus talking about “make-believe”? Yes, he is. Intellectual belief is not enough. He said to possess mentally.
Mark 10:14-15 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not RECEIVE the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”
Jesus said it is okay to make-believe like little children. By so doing, you have access to and RECEIVE all that the kingdom of God has. How many of you have ever said something like, “I wanted IT so badly that I could TASTE IT?” Most likely, you got whatever IT was you could mentally taste and got IT soon. You have had dreams so real you smelled odors. In the dream, you heard sounds. In the dream, you saw colors and details. Perhaps you felt the breeze.
Whosoever Shall Have Whatsoever: How to Cultivate Desire
Then, one day, you walked into that dream in reality – Déjà vu. One of the primary things a car salesperson will do is get you into a car/truck. If the vehicle does not “feel” right, the salesperson will get you into another until you find one that “feels right.” The salesperson wants you to see yourself in that car. It is then you obtain the car.
Begin to taste it, feel it, and smell it. Feel it the way you would feel when it arrives. The power comes from feeling it—from receiving it. Ask yourself, what can you do to better feel what you are asking and believing?
I was in Florida a few years ago with my 17-foot boat. It is a good boat, but I wanted a larger one for the ocean. I could see the boat I wanted in my mind, and I imagined how it would be to have it. Yes, I became childish about it, and I would get excited thinking about it. My heart was in it.
Then, about a mile from our condo, there was the boat… for sale… in my price range.
A few things had to fall into place. They did, and a few days later, I was on the ocean in that boat. Today, that boat is in my backyard. It is a great boat!
Whosoever Shall Have Whatsoever: How to Cultivate Desire
When we first came to this town, we lived in a house that was sheltering but not nice. For example, the plaster from the ceiling would fall on us. The roof leaked badly, etc. It was depressing. One day, the Lord asked Judy, my wife, what she wanted. She gave all the “right” unselfish spiritual answers. The Lord told Judy that was not what he was asking her. Let me show you this scripture. Jesus, speaking about people who pray “religious” prayers, said…
Matthew 6:8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
Then why pray if Father God knows what I need before I pray? Well, one reason is to pray for what you want. The Lord did not ask Judy what she needed. He asked what she wanted.
Finally, Judy said she wanted a lovely house and some new clothes. A few days later, Judy got a check in the mail from a woman 120 miles away who said that she felt to send Judy money so Judy could buy clothes or whatever she wanted. A few days later, the leadership instructed me to find a house. We acquired a realtor and spent an entire day looking at houses. None of them “felt” right, and we could not “see” ourselves living in any of those houses. Finally, we drove up the drive to a house (and I do mean UP). When I saw it, I said, “I like this house.”
Whosoever Shall Have Whatsoever: How to Cultivate Desire
We began seeing ourselves living in it. We made an offer but did not get the house. However, we would not settle for less and found nothing else that “felt” right. We continued seeing ourselves in that house. About a month later, the owner called and said he would accept our offer. A few weeks later, we moved into the house and have lived there for nearly 20 years. Jesus said whosoever shall have whatsoever.
You have stories like my stories, too.
The nicest things you have began with a thought that turned into desire. You asked for them, and you “felt” them before you ever had them. Now, you need to expand and go for something bigger. WHOSOEVER can have WHATSOEVER. Empower your thoughts and create the life you want. Drive your life by this.
Jesus said whosoever shall have whatsoever. I know this works, and so do most of you. So, why do we not continually operate in this all the time? The reason is that we lose our focus. We do not keep our hearts in it. We allow our minds to doubt or begin thinking about other things.
Let me ask you a question. How many thoughts do you have a day? Wouldn’t it be great to count them? Do you know some people actually count thoughts? They found that people are different, and there is variance in the number of thoughts from person to person, but even at the lowest number, it is about twelve thousand thoughts a day. Here are a few quotes from those studies.
Whosoever Shall Have Whatsoever: How to Cultivate Desire
Several years ago, the National Science Foundation put out some fascinating statistics.
We think a thousand thoughts per hour. When we write, we think twenty-five hundred thoughts in an hour and a half. The average person thinks about twelve thousand thoughts per day. A deeper thinker, according to this report, puts forth fifty thousand thoughts daily.”
“…in terms of my protocol, in terms of mind-body technologies. Number 1, I have people find out how their mind works, how many thoughts they run per day and the average person runs about 15,000 thoughts per day in which at least half of those are negative. And we know that our thoughts turn into our emotions, and our emotions turn into physiology.”
“We have approximately 50,000 – 60,000 thoughts per day. Unfortunately, 95% of those thoughts we had today are the same ones we had yesterday!”
We have between 12,000 and 60,000 thoughts a day. According to the experts, at least half of those thoughts (6,000 to 30,000) are negatively affecting our emotions and body (physiology). Topping that, we repeat all that negative thinking the next day and again the next day and again the next day, etc. Then, we wonder why our lives are a mess, why our marriages struggle, why we are sick, why we have financial problems, and why our children rebel. The apostle Paul said…
Whosoever Shall Have Whatsoever: How to Cultivate Desire
2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity EVERY THOUGHT to the obedience of Christ
The apostle Paul said to bring into captivity EVERY THOUGHT. How does a person do that? I am a thinking person. I write a lot. So I am probably about a 40,000 thoughts per day person. How am I supposed to keep focused on my primary thoughts when I am having 40,000 thoughts a day and, on top of that, battling negative thoughts? One of the best ways is to begin a FOCUS BOARD.
This is a board with pictures, quotes, or anything that will keep you focused on your primary thoughts. I am using a corkboard with pictures that cause me to focus. You might use your refrigerator. A great place to put a focus board would be in your bathroom. You can see it first thing every morning, and it will be the last thing you see at night. I have my focus board in my office, where I am nearly every day for usually around eight hours.
You need a focus board or something similar to help you focus on the thoughts directing your life. Jesus would go off alone to pray and meditate early in the morning and throughout the day.
Whosoever Shall Have Whatsoever: How to Cultivate Desire
He would focus his thoughts. What do you do to focus your thoughts? Anything? Don’t allow your mind to run wild. That is the person you will become and the life you will experience. Thoughts will direct your life – good or bad. So, why not focus on good thoughts that will drive your life to something great?
What do you want? Where do you want to go? How much money do you want to make? What automobile do you wish to drive? Where do you want to live? What kind of house do you want to live in? Drive your life to these things by empowering your thoughts. Jesus said we can empower a thought desire and believing you receive it. Jesus said WHOSOEVER SHALL HAVE WHATSOEVER.
