Thoughts Create Reality – sermon video audio notes

Thoughts Create Reality – No matter if you understand it or not, you must agree our thoughts create reality. There is something about our thinking causing things to happen. You can go through life in one of two ways. (1) You can leave it up to chance and take what comes directed by your worries and fears. (2) You can bring your every thought into captivity and reprogram your thought system.

Thoughts Create Reality

Thoughts Create Reality

Scriptures: Proverbs 23:7, Genesis 1:11-25, Mark 7:20-23, Job 3:25-26, Genesis 2:7, Galatians 6:7, 2 Corinthians 10:5

What is the fastest way to change your life from mediocre or bad to great? What if, just what if a person is not successful or fulfilled? What if a person is not happy? What if a person is physically, or emotionally, or mentally sick? What if a person has a failed life? What can said person do to turn that failure, or sickness, or unhappiness around and do it in a very short time?

There are many things that can be done to help turn a life around, but the thing I believe that person must do is begin working on their thought life. What we are and what we are not is determined by thoughts.

Proverbs 23:7  For as he THINKETH in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.

There are certain laws built into existence. We do not necessarily understand how all these laws work. Nonetheless, these are laws that work all the time. Take for example, gravity. The encyclopedia says,Gravitation is a phenomenon through which all objects ATTRACT each other. Modern physics describes gravitation using the general theory of relativity… Gravitation is the reason for the very existence of theEarth, the Sun, and every object in the universe; without it, matter would not have coalesced [come together, grow together, fuse together] into masses and life would not exist. Gravitation is also responsible for keeping the Earth and the other planets in their orbits around the Sun; the Moon in its orbit around the Earth; the formation of tides; and various other natural phenomena that we observe.” Gravity is more than something that keeps us stuck to this planet. Without it, we do not exist. We do not know how gravity works. It is a “phenomenon,” but it works every second of every day. How it works is not what is important. That it works is! You do not wake every day saying, “Man! I hope gravity is working today. I think I will pray that gravity will work today.” It works. IT WILL WORK NOT EVERY TIME, BUT RATHER WORK ALL THE TIME.

The Lord God set everything in perfect precise motion. Things that seem so phenomenal are actually simply obeying laws God set in motion. For example, we know exactly when the next solar eclipse will take place. The next solar eclipse takes place on March 192007, while the next total solar eclipse (rare, last August 11, 1999) will occur on August 1, 2008.” We know when they will happen a hundred years from now. How? Because God’s laws are so precise. For most of time a solar eclipse was a frightening event. Today, we think little of it. We simply know that the earth, moon, and sun are obeying the law of God. Because of God’s laws, the universe works perfectly, not every time, but ALL THE TIME.

My point is phenomenal things happen all the time all around us. They are not accidents or coincidence. They are the results of laws that work ALL THE TIME. Understanding exactly how they work is not nearly as important as knowing that they work.

There is a law placed in motion in the book of Genesis.

Genesis 1:11  And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit AFTER HIS KIND, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

Genesis 1:12  And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed AFTER HIS KIND, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, AFTER HIS KIND: and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:21  And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, AFTER THEIR KIND, and every winged fowl AFTER HIS KIND: and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:24  And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature AFTER HIS KIND, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth AFTER HIS KIND: and it was so.

Genesis 1:25  And God made the beast of the earth AFTER HIS KIND, and cattle AFTER THEIR KIND, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth AFTER HIS KIND: and God saw that it was good.

The Lord set the law in motion and it works all the time. Ten times the Lord God says that kind producesAFTER HIS KIND. Everything produces AFTER HIS KIND. It does not only happen every time. It happens all the time. LIKE MAKES LIKE.

It is exactly this way with thoughts. Thoughts produce. Thoughts produce like results. There is a seed in every thought. Thoughts make results. Our lives are products of our thoughts. Jesus said…

Mark 7:20-23  …What comes out of a man is what makes him unclean. For from within, out of men’s hearts, come evil THOUGHTS, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and make a man ‘unclean.

Thoughts make him be what he is. Notice that thoughts do not only produce thoughts of sexual immorality. Thoughts produce an immoral person. There is a seed in the thought. Thoughts do not produce only thoughts of theft. Thoughts produce a thief. There is a seed in the thought. Thoughts do not only produce thoughts of murder. Thoughts produce a murderer, etc. But, what if a person had thoughts of wealth? What would those thought seeds produce? What if a person had thoughts of health? What would those thought seeds produce? What if an overweight person began having thoughts of his or her perfect body? What would those thoughts produce? Our lives are products of our thoughts that produce like results for the good or produce like results for the bad.

I don’t think any of us have a problem with any of this so far. I want to try to say something that maybe we haven’t thought about. How many of us have had a thought about a person. For example, maybe you got out of bed thinking about someone. You thought and maybe said, “I need to see or talk to that person,” then, a short time later, “out of the blue,” that very person showed up in your life. You ran into them in the store, or they called you and you said, “I was THINKING about you…” Coincidence, right? If it is a coincidence then why does it happen to all of us all the time?

What I want to show us is that thoughts bring to us either good things and good people, or bad things and bad people. Like thoughts produce/attract like results. How many have ever thought that you wanted something (some item), then, “out of the blue,” that very thing you wanted showed up? Someone gave it to you or maybe you found one. Coincidence again, right? Sure, just like gravity is a coincidence and just like a solar eclipse is a coincidence. No, it is not a coincidence. This is the law called AFTER HIS KIND.

How many have ever had a dream so real, or you thought about something in such detail that one day you literally, in real life, “walked into” that dream or detailed thought? You thought déjà vu. Coincidence, right? If it is a coincidence then why does it happen to all of us all the time? It is the creative power of thoughts. You know it is true. You are just afraid to say it or think it.

Let me take it the other direction. How many have ever said concerning a situation, “I fear this is going to be bad!” and it was bad? Or, “I know I am going to get the flu” and you did. Coincidence? No. It is the law working all the time.

Job 3:25-26  What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me. I have no peace, no quietness; I have no rest, but only turmoil.

Bad, fearful, and dreadful thoughts can only produce bad, fearful, and dreadful results. When Job’s thinking changed, Job’s life changed.

You are created to think like God.

Genesis 2:7  And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a LIVING SOUL.

The Lord made man from the ground and man became a living soul (nephesh – breathing, thinking creature). Man became a thinking substance. God gave man the ability to think so man could make things or cause things to happen, to take dominion. Everything ever created, from the beginning of time, began with one thought. When you think, things happen. Everything you have in your life came to you because of a thought. Everything – good and bad. Whatever is going on in your life began happening in a mind. Thoughts make things happen.

Did you know that 1% of the earth’s population controls about 96% of the earth’s wealth? Is that a coincidence, or do wealthy people think a lot about wealth? They think thoughts of abundance and wealth then abundance and wealth seems to find them. If you get around people who make a lot of money, money is nearly all they want to talk about because that is nearly all they think about.

Have you ever had a bad situation going on in your life where you could not stop talking about it and thinking about it and the situation kept getting worse? You were releasing thoughts that brought more bad things into the situation. The situation did not improve until your thinking improved. It is the law of AFTER HIS KIND – LIKE MAKES LIKE. We accept the fact that we become what we think about most, but I want us to see also, we draw to us what we think about most. Here is the point: THOUGHTS BECOME THINGS good or bad.

The law of AFTER HIS KIND – LIKE MAKES LIKE – does not work every time. It works all the time. It does not matter if you believe it or not. You are sending thoughts out and you are receiving back the product of those thoughts. You do not turn the law off or on exactly as you do not turn gravity off or on. Is gravity good or bad? We would say it is good, but if you fell out of a tree, off a building, or off a cliff, you might not think gravity is so good. It could kill you. It is that way with AFTER HIS KIND – LIKE MAKES LIKE.It is intended for good, but it can kill you. It is working all the time. Even if you are not thinking, the law is working. The law is acting on thoughts you already sent out.

Galatians 6:7  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for WHATSOEVER a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

We talked earlier about dreams coming true. Even when you are sleeping, the law of AFTER HIS KIND – LIKE MAKES LIKE is working.

What you are thinking now is drawing to your life for the future. The things you think about the most and focus on the most will become your life. If you are complaining, you will find more things about which to complain. However, if you focus on gratitude and think mostly about the things for which you are grateful, you will have more things for which to be grateful. You can change your life by changing the thoughts upon which you focus. The law of AFTER HIS KIND – LIKE MAKES LIKE MUST work. It has no option.

You must be AWARE of your thoughts. You cannot afford to allow your mind to run wild and allow just any thought to go out. You must be aware of thoughts.

2 Corinthians 10:5  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity EVERY THOUGHT to the obedience of Christ

Why did Paul say that? It is because there is power in EVERY THOUGHT. You must be aware of the power of your EVERY thought. Your thoughts create.

How many of you believe you are a child of God? What does that mean?

Psalm 82:6  I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.

John 10:34  Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?

You ARE significant. You ARE powerful. It is a law. What does it mean to be a child of the most High God? Doesn’t it mean that you can create?

No matter if you understand this or not, you must agree that there is something to your “thinking creating reality.” You cannot choose to turn the law off and on. However, you do get to choose this: You can go through life in one of two ways. (1) You can leave it up to chance and take what comes directed by your worries and fears. (2) You can bring your EVERY THOUGHT into captivity and reprogram, if necessary, your thought system. How many want to work on number 2?

The first thing you will need to do is to believe that your thoughts do create your reality. If you do not believe that, you will never change your thought system. The more you believe it, the more abundant your life will become.

Next, you need to remove bad thoughts and bad beliefs and replace them with your personal good creative thoughts and beliefs. “Beliefs are thoughts that you have taken as truth… beliefs are thoughts, and thoughts have the power to create.” For example, maybe you have the belief that you will never be wealthy or successful. That is a powerful belief that will dominate your future and, unless the thought system is changed, dominate your children’s future. You must change that for if that is your belief, you will never be wealthy or successful. You are producing poverty and failure with your thoughts. You must literally replace that dominate thought with “I am wealthy and successful and I will be wealthier and more successful.” How do you do that? Uncover bad, negative thinking.

I learned this process in the book by Darrell Daybré called The Greatest Secret. I do recommend it. You can download it on the web at (not a “Christian site,” but this is a Christian principle). He goes into much more detail than I can here. Take a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle. On the left side, write the things you like about your life. Now, take an honest look and on the right, list the things you do not like about your life. Here is an example.

I have a great spouse

I enjoy relaxing by _________

I am a good person

I am a great parent/grandparent

I love my church and pastor

I have a problem child

I am sick with __________

I never have enough money

I hate my job

I am over-weight

Here is the important part. You must ask yourself concerning each thing you dislike, “What would the person who did not have this dislike in his or her life think and believe?” How does the person think and believe who does not have a problem child? They think about how obedient the child is and how the child does well. They are proud of the child. They affirm the child. They release good thoughts. How does the person think and believe who does have enough money? They think about how much they will save this week, or their increasing bank balance. My point is do not only try and stop thinking bad thoughts. Replace bad thinking with good thinking. This is not just positive confession or wishful thinking. This is replacing your bad thought system with a good thought system.

After identifying your personal negative thoughts and beliefs, write them out in sentence form. For example, “I am sick with cancer.” Above that negative thought and belief, write it the way a healthy person would think. “I am healthy and I have no sickness in my body.” You need to do one more thing. You need to declare this. Say, “I have the thought and belief that I am sick with cancer. I choose to remove that thought and belief from my belief system because it limits me. I choose to replace it with ‘I am healthy and I have no sickness in my body.'” Begin to see yourself healthy and doing things you now cannot do. Do not stop taking medication or treatments, but see yourself finishing them. What you will find is that when that negative thought or belief comes up, you will immediately go to the replacement belief instead of the old negative belief.

Matthew 21:21-22  Jesus replied, I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.

Your cancer should wither and die just like that fig tree. If you will believe, you will receive. Do not doubt. Replace the negative thought with what you want. All of us have some mountains we need to cast into the sea. It will not happen until you think with power!
