What in the world does this mean anyway? Our hearts are deceptive and wicked. Why does the Lord look at the heart? What does he see when he analyzes my heart? The Lord Looks At What? sermon notes

Have you ever said, or heard someone say something like, ‘You know the Lord looks at the heart?’ What in the world does this mean? Why does the Lord look at the heart? What does he see when he analyzes my heart? What answers are provided for him with that inspection? Also, we need to learn to analyze our own hearts. If we are created in the image of God, then we too can look at the heart. Let’s begin by reading the passage that tells us that the Lord indeed looks on the heart.

I Am What I Think Period sermon notes

We are what we think. Why are people overweight? They think too much about eating. Why is a person not overweight? They do not think too much about eating. Why is a person an alcoholic? They think too much about drinking alcohol. Why is a person not an alcoholic? When we think too much about anything it controls our worlds and we become what we think, or what we think about. Why is a person addicted to pornography? They think too much about sex. Is it wrong to think about sex? I hope not, but if I allow these thoughts to consume my thought life, it will cause something unhealthy.

You Can’t Help What You Don’t Feel sermon video

We expected more from a relationship than the person was capable of giving and it broke our hearts. We think people should feel the same way we feel about things and that is not fair. Lone Star has a song titled “Smile.” A line in the song says, “You can’t help how you don’t feel and it doesn’t matter why.” Even in the best of relationships, people do not have the same passions. To expect them to have the same passions and feelings we have is unjust expectations. We set ourselves up for heartbreak, and we will have one.

Shock Advised sermon notes

My EMT friend Daryl brought out a defibrillator. Two wires come from the defibrillator with two pads at the end of the wires, which are stuck, on either side of the heart. The shocker begins analyzing and evaluating the condition of the heart. If no heartbeat is detected it says, Shock advised. We know the Lord looks at the heart (1Sa 16:7). He evaluates the condition of the heart. The Lord recognizes the necessity of getting a heart back in rhythm. It could be ‘Shock advised.’
