Believing In The Promises audio video notes. Throughout time and through the scriptures, God has made promises to people. God even made promises to animals and every living thing. Think about it. If God promised to animals, birds, reptiles, and fish and kept those promises, surely he will keep what he promised you and me.

Acts 1:15-14, Matthew 17:20, Mark 4:40, John 14:12, 2 Corinthians 1:20, Psalms 119:148, Genesis 9:13-16, 2 Samuel 7:25-28, Psalms 119:116, 154, 170, Matthew 21:22, Acts 7:5, Joshua 23:10, 1 Kings 5:12, 1 Kings 8:56, 2 Peter 1:4, Hebrews 8:6
Believing is a huge doctrine.
The Bible speaks endlessly about believing, the rewards of believing, and the power associated with believing. Did you know there are nearly 300 scriptures using a form of the word believe and 245 of those are in the New Testament? A person in the New Testament is supposed to believe. In fact, Christ’s followers were called “believers” before they were called Christians.
Acts 1:15 In those days Peter stood up among the believers…
Acts 5:14 And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.
Believers are supposed to believe. Of course, we are supposed to believe in Jesus, but we are also to believe God for other issues. In fact, sometimes there was a correction from Jesus if believing he was the Christ was the extent of a person’s belief.

Once the disciples were trying to minister to a young boy with a demon, but they could not help the boy. They brought the boy to Jesus, and Jesus immediately ministered to him. The disciples asked why they were unable to help the boy.
Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
They already believed he was the Christ (Mat 16), but this alone did not help the boy. Many times, we can’t help people, or help our own families the way we should because we don’t believe correctly. Jesus said if they would just believe a little for greater things, they would begin to see mountains move, and nothing would be impossible for them. Jesus wanted them to expand their belief to overcome forces coming against them.
On several occasions, Jesus challenged people because of their lack of faith and belief. Once, Jesus and the disciples were in a boat when a storm came upon them. The disciples were afraid they would die. Jesus was sleeping in the boat when they woke him. He spoke to the wind and sea, and it calmed.
Believing In The Promises audio video notes
Mark 4:40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith?
Believers are supposed to believe God for more than going to heaven when we die. We need to believe for every fear we face, every storm we face in life, for every demonic attack our children, others, and we face. We have to believe for every situation.
INTERESTINGLY, ONLY ABOUT TWELVE of the over 200 scriptures talking about believing in the New Testament, talk about believing in association with eternal life.
My point is that God wants us to believe for eternal life, but we should not stop there. We should believe for other things.
John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Believing Jesus is the Christ is the launch pad exploding us into doing greater works. We are to begin there, not stop there.
I WANT TO TALK TO YOU TODAY about “BELIEVING IN THE PROMISES.”
Believing In The Promises audio video notes
Throughout history and through scriptures, God has made promises to people. God even made promises to animals and every living thing. Think about it. If God promised to animals, birds, reptiles, and fish and kept those promises, surely he will keep what he promised you and me.
Did you know there is a promise in the Bible from God for every situation you will ever face? There is a promise from God for every need you will ever have and every problem you will ever have. What is so wonderful is the Believer in Christ has the right and privilege to access all and any of the promises of God.
2 Corinthians 1:20 For ALL THE PROMISES OF GOD in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
Notice our accessing the promises of God brings glory to God. It gives God an opportunity to “show off” (Joh 11:4, 40) when we BELIEVE IN THE PROMISES. When Jesus comes to us, and we receive him as Lord and King, he comes with all the promises of God.
WE NEED TO MEDITATE AND THINK ABOUT THE PROMISES of God.
How many of you have ever had a negative situation keep you awake at night? You lay there, tossed, and turned. Your mind was going crazy. I want to tell you how to handle it. Instead of laying there worrying about the problem, begin praying and meditating on the promises.
Believing In The Promises audio video notes
Psalms 119:148 My eyes stay open through the watches of the night, that I may meditate on your promises.
If you need God, you will find him somewhere around his promises. D.L. Moody said, “Tarry at a promise, and God will meet you there.” God hangs out with his promises.
Remember when God made his promise to Noah after the flood? God made a rainbow. Most of us think the rainbow is to remind us God will never destroy the earth again. However, this is not totally correct. It is to remind God of his promise.
(NLT) Genesis 9:13-16
13 I have placed my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of my permanent promise to you and to all the earth.
14 When I send clouds over the earth, the rainbow will be seen in the clouds,
15 and I will remember my covenant with you and with everything that lives. Never again will there be a flood that will destroy all life.
16 When I see the rainbow in the clouds, I will remember the eternal covenant between God and every living creature on earth.”
Isn’t this great? God reminds himself to keep the promises he made us. It shows us the seriousness God has concerning his promises.
Believing In The Promises audio video notes
Another thing we see here is God doesn’t mind reminders about his promises. I need reminders. I have a computer program that does nothing else but remind me of things I cannot forget, but I must remember to use the program. It works when I do. I carry a cell phone with a reminder in it. God put the rainbow in the sky to remind himself of things he could not forget. God doesn’t mind our reminding him about his promises to us. King David reminded God all the time.
2 Samuel 7:25 “And now, LORD God, keep forever the promise you have made concerning your servant and his house. Do as you promised
David knew God had promised him some specific things through prophecy and through his relationship with God. There were the covenantal promises David could access, but there were also personal promises given specifically to David. David believed those promises and constantly reminded God about them.
2 Samuel 7:28 O Sovereign LORD, you are God! Your words are trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant.
When tough times came against David, and it seemed hopeless, David began reminding God through prayer about the promises.
Believing In The Promises audio video notes
Sustain me according to your promise, and I will live; do not let my hopes be dashed. Psalms 119:116
Defend my cause and redeem me; preserve my life according to your promise. Psalms 119:154
May my supplication come before you; deliver me according to your promise. Psalms 119:170
I want to encourage you today. When you are going through tough times, remember the promises. Pray them. Remind God and yourself and believe God’s promises.
KNOWING THE PROMISES OF GOD IS ALREADY KNOWING THE ANSWERS TO OUR PRAYERS.
We don’t have to pray a request and beg God to help us. We simply remind him of what he promised and believe.
Believing In The Promises audio video notes
Matthew 21:22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.
Don’t miss the necessity of believing when you pray. Believe the promises.
I want us to think about something. Do you realize God gave every Bible character some type of promise? He promised Noah it would flood, but Noah and his family would be saved. God promised Abraham and his heritage the land of Canaan. This is why it was called “The Promised Land.”
Acts 7:5 … yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child.
God promised Sarah a son. God promised Joshua he would give him victory and he, the Lord, would fight for him.
Joshua 23:10 One of you routs a thousand, because the LORD your God fights for you, just as he promised.
The promises of God go on and on. God promised Caleb his mountain. He promised Hanna a child who she named Samuel. God promised David he would make him king.
Believing In The Promises audio video notes
God promised Solomon he would be king after his father, David, and God would give Solomon wisdom.
1 Kings 5:12 The LORD gave Solomon wisdom, just as he had promised him.
God promised Gideon victory. Hebrews chapter 11 gives us the Hall of Faith. It lists many people who believed God for great things. Look what verse 33 says in the New Living Translation.
(NLT) 11:33 By faith these people overthrew kingdoms, ruled with justice, and received what God had promised them…
God makes us specific and individual promises. Through them, you will live a victorious life. We give God the opportunity to show off his glory. We experience the abundant life, and we overthrow the kingdom of darkness. Furthermore, we rule with Christ. We receive our promises.
NOT ONE,
I want to repeat this. Not one single promise God made to an individual or in a covenant went undone. God desires to do for his children.
Believing In The Promises audio video notes
1 Kings 8:56 “Praise be to the LORD, who has given rest to his people Israel just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the good promises he gave through his servant Moses.
Joshua 23:15 …every good promise of the LORD your God has come true…
My point is this. God makes promises to his children. If he made promises to them then he has made promises to us. Sure, he has given the covenantal promises, but there is a specific promise he has given you. Do you know what it is?
2 Peter 1:4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them YOU may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
YOU have been given very great and precious promises. Jesus provided us with everything we need to live an abundant life. All the things we need are in his GREAT AND PRECIOUS PROMISES.
THERE IS SOMETHING IN THIS VERSE we cannot skip over and must not miss.
Believing In The Promises audio video notes
Peter said it is through the promises we participate in the divine nature.
2 Peter 1:4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them YOU may participate in the divine nature…
Isn’t this interesting? We get to do divine things – supernatural things – when we believe in the promises. Supernatural things happen when we believe the promises. Supernatural things happen in your life, for your family, for your finances, for your health, and for every need you have.
With man, it may be impossible, but with God, all things are possible if you believe. The doctors may have given you a bad report, but the promise is by his stripes you were healed. You may have financial problems today, but the promise is you will prosper and be in good health. Your child may be in rebellion today, but the promise is when your children are taught of the Lord, great is the peace of your children. No matter what you are facing, you can experience the divine nature, the supernatural, through the very great and precious promises.
I want to close with this thought. Jesus founded the New Covenant on promises.
Believing In The Promises audio video notes
Hebrews 8:6 But the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, and it is founded on better promises.
This is our day and our time. It’s not the time of Noah, Abraham, Gideon, Sampson, Elijah, etc. It’s our time. We are born for this time and have access to this covenant.
God has founded his relationship with you on promises. Our covenant is founded upon promises. To understand the covenant and the relationship, you must understand the promises. You will never experience the powerful life God wants you to experience unless you BELIEVE IN THE PROMISES. God has made you a promise. God has promised you something. What is it he has promised you? Success? Health? Happiness? Love? Sanity? A good spouse? Believe God for your promise.
I want to encourage you today.
Be a BELIEVER. Grab hold of the POWER IN BELIEVING. Don’t allow unbelief to stop you from ministering to people. Don’t allow storms to turn you around or cause you fear. BELIEVE FOR GREATER THINGS. Believe the PROMISES of God. When Jesus came to you, he brought all the promises of God for you to access. MEDITATE on the promises, and don’t worry about the problems. REMIND GOD about his promises. Get out your prophecies and find the promises God has given you. You have been given VERY GREAT AND PRECIOUS PROMISES.
Believing In The Promises audio video notes
If you will BELIEVE IN THE PROMISES, nothing will be impossible. You will live the powerful supernatural life Jesus came to give you. You will PARTICIPATE IN THE DIVINE NATURE.
How many are going to BELIEVE THE PROMISES with me? Give the Lord a shout and handclap.
