Wicked Woman Jezebel – How to Confront Wickedness

It’s time to talk about the “badest” Wicked Woman of the Bible—Jezebel. Her name alone speaks volumes. Both saints and sinners know the name Jezebel and what it infers. When Judy and I first came to this area to minister, I experienced a vision of the principality and power over it. I called it Jezebel. It was/is everywhere: in families, businesses, government, region, and churches, as it was in Thyatira.
Revelation 2:18-23 “To the angel of the church in Thyatira write… [v20] YOU TOLERATE THAT WOMAN JEZEBEL, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. I have given her TIME TO REPENT of her immorality, but SHE IS UNWILLING. So I will cast her on a bed of SUFFERING, and I will make those who commit adultery with her SUFFER INTENSELY, unless they repent of her ways. I will strike her CHILDREN DEAD. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.
There is serious judgment for being a, or tolerating a Jezebel. Though she is an ancient name, she is an ever-present entity that can bring damage and death to those who tolerate her. One thing we haven’t done at Life Gate is tolerate that woman Jezebel. Not tolerating her always comes with a high price, but it’s far better than the judgment the Son of Man brings on those who do tolerate that woman, Jezebel.
Wicked Woman Jezebel – How to Confront Wickedness
The original Jezebel was born a rich Phoenician princess accustomed to getting her way. She married Ahab, the king of Israel, who was a “vile human toad who squatted upon the throne of the nation.” Ahab lived his life under the thumb of wicked, viperous Jezebel.
1 Kings 16:30-33 Ahab son of Omri did more evil in the eyes of the LORD than any of those before him. He not only considered it trivial to commit the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, BUT HE ALSO MARRIED JEZEBEL DAUGHTER OF ETHBAAL KING OF THE SIDONIANS, and began to serve Baal and worship him. He set up an altar for Baal in the temple of Baal that he built in Samaria. Ahab also made an Asherah pole and did more to provoke the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger than did all the kings of Israel before him.
We’ve talked about and seen the influence a woman has on her man.
This is especially apparent with Eve and Lot’s wife, but no woman influences (present tense) her man toward wickedness more than Jezebel does. This is one way you identify her. She takes her man away from the true God to something false.
Raised a worshiper of Ball and called “the queen mother” (2Ki 10:13), Jezebel, a poisonous viper coiled beside the throne, hated Jehovah, the God of Israel, and those who worshiped him. Her goal in life was to drive out the worship of Jehovah from the land of Israel and to usher in Ball worship (god of the weather/cultivation) and Asherah worship (fertility goddess of love – Easter eggs, bunnies).

1 Kings 18:4 While Jezebel was KILLING OFF the LORD’s prophets…
By uniting with wicked Ahab, it seemed she would remove the worship of the Lord God from the land. They built places of worship for Ball and Asherah, which included temple prostitution, lust, sexual immorality, and the sacrifice of children. In the prophet of God Elijah’s challenge on Mount Carmel we read:
1 Kings 18:19 Now summon the people from all over Israel to meet me on Mount Carmel. And bring the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal and the four hundred prophets of Asherah, WHO EAT AT JEZEBEL’S TABLE.”
Jezebel and Ahab financially supported the prophets of Baal and Asherah. Current day, Jezebels will support anyone and anything to damage or kill off God’s prophetic truth. Men and women of God remain a target of Jezebel.
The scriptures give us a story of Jezebel’s wickedness. A godly man named Naboth owned a vineyard close to Ahab’s palace (1Ki 21:1). Ahab wanted Naboth’s property for a vegetable garden. Ahab offered Naboth a good price or a better vineyard. Naboth refused. His property was his cherished inheritance from his ancestors.

1 Kings 21:4-5 So Ahab went home, sullen and angry because Naboth the Jezreelite had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” He lay on his bed sulking and refused to eat. His wife Jezebel came in and asked him, “Why are you so sullen? Why won’t you eat?”
Ahab was obviously a weak, wimpy, whiny toad of a man and perfect for the dominating, controlling viper Jezebel, who likely had seen her husband act this way before. Ahab told Jezebel Naboth rejected his offer.
1 Kings 21:7 Jezebel his wife said, “Is this how you act as king over Israel? Get up and eat! Cheer up. I’LL GET YOU THE VINEYARD of Naboth the Jezreelite.”
No woman likes men who whine like Ahab, but Jezebel intentionally belittled her husband. This is another trait of present-day Jezebel. She not only controlled, but she robbed and emasculated his person and manhood. Ladies, have you ever put your hands on your hips and, with glaring eyes, raised voice, and red lips, belittled your man’s person and manhood? Did you slaughter his self-confidence? Don’t do it. It brings judgment.
She set out to keep her wicked promise. She not only controlled Ahab, but she controlled other men as well.

1 Kings 21:8-11, 13 So she wrote letters in Ahab’s name, placed his seal on them, and sent them to the elders and nobles who lived in Naboth’s city with him. In those letters she wrote: “Proclaim a day of fasting and seat Naboth in a prominent place among the people. But seat two scoundrels opposite him and have them testify that he has cursed both God and the king. Then take him out and stone him to death.” So THE ELDERS AND NOBLES WHO LIVED IN NABOTH’S CITY DID AS JEZEBEL DIRECTED in the letters she had written to them… So they took him outside the city and STONED HIM TO DEATH.
Today, Jezebel has innocent people stoned. The elders and nobles did as Jezebel directed. They sent Jezebel word of Naboth’s death.
1 Kings 21:15-16 As soon as Jezebel heard that Naboth had been stoned to death, she said to Ahab, “GET UP and take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite that he refused to sell you. He is no longer alive, but dead.” When Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, he got up and went down to take possession of Naboth’s vineyard.
While walking in his new possession, Ahab had a visitor. The Lord told Elijah, the prophet, to get up and tell Ahab what the Lord God said.
1 Kings 21:19, 21 Say to him, ‘This is what the LORD says: Have you not murdered a man and seized his property?’ Then say to him, ‘This is what the LORD says: In the place where dogs licked up Naboth’s blood, dogs will lick up your blood — yes, yours!’ ‘…I am going to bring disaster on you. I will consume your descendants and cut off from Ahab every last male in Israel — slave or free’

Dogs devour Jezebel
Before Elijah finished, he had one more thing to hear from God.
1 Kings 21:23 “And also concerning Jezebel the LORD says: ‘DOGS WILL DEVOUR JEZEBEL BY THE WALL OF JEZREEL.’
Did these things happen? Oh yes, they did. It took about fifteen to twenty years, but it all happened. There’s always “payday someday.” I will tell you quickly what happened. Ahab went to war with Aram. Knowing the king of Aram ordered his soldiers to kill Ahab and not fight anyone else, Ahab disguised himself as a regular soldier.
1 Kings 22:34 But someone drew his bow at random and hit the king of Israel between the sections of his armor.
1 Kings 22:38 They washed the chariot at a pool in Samaria (where the prostitutes bathed), and the dogs licked up his blood, as the word of the LORD had declared.

Later, God instructed Elisha to have Jehu anointed as king with specific instructions to genocide the house of Ahab (2Ki 9:7) along with this statement.
2 Kings 9:10 As for JEZEBEL, DOGS WILL DEVOUR HER on the plot of ground at Jezreel, and no one will bury her.
Jehu immediately engaged in his instructions from God with zeal (2Ki2:16). Jehu began assassinating Ahab’s and Jezebel’s sons. Ahab also had seventy other sons (2Ki 10:1) whom Jehu ordered beheaded (2Ki 10:7).
2 Kings 9:30 Then Jehu went to Jezreel. When Jezebel heard about it, she painted her eyes, arranged her hair and looked out of a window.
Jezebel knew her husband’s prophetic death happened exactly as God said it would, and her sons died exactly as God said they would, but did Jezebel repent? No! Jezebel NEVER repents. God gives her time, but she never repents. Instead, she paints up. She lined her eyes, powdered her face, and painted her lips. Furthermore, she is proud and defiant to the end. Moreover, she thought she’d go out looking her best prepared for her funeral. Instead, she will be dog food.

2 Kings 9:32-33 He looked up at the window and called out, “Who is on my side? Who?” Two or three eunuchs looked down at him. “Throw her down!” Jehu said. So they threw her down, and some of her blood spattered the wall and the horses as they trampled her underfoot.
Jezebel’s dead, but God’s not finished with her yet. Jezebel lay dead and trampled in the street. Jehu and his men went to eat a bite. Later Jehu instructed his men to go bury Jezebel, but…
2 Kings 9:35-37 But when they went out to bury her, they found nothing except her skull, her feet and her hands. They went back and told Jehu, who said, “This is the word of the LORD that he spoke through his servant Elijah the Tishbite: On the plot of ground at Jezreel dogs will devour Jezebel’s flesh. Jezebel’s body will be like refuse on the ground in the plot at Jezreel, so that no one will be able to say, ‘This is Jezebel.'”
God fulfilled his word. He always does. There’s payday someday.
Wicked Woman Jezebel – How to Confront Wickedness
Liz Curtis Higgs said in Bad Girls of the Bible, “Jezebel stands out because she was a gifted woman who had every opportunity for greatness. Instead, she threw her chances out the window to embrace a foreign god who – when push came to shove – couldn’t save one of his most devoted followers from a terrible end.”
What are some identifying traits and lessons we learn from Jezebel?
1) Parenting: Jezebel followed her parents’ ways in her worship, life, and parenting. Godly parents are a far greater blessing than realized as long as their God is the correct God. Perhaps you didn’t have Godly parents. Then, change the course of your prodigy and become a Godly parent.
2) Jezebel pulls not only her husband and family away from the Lord God to worship false gods. She pulls the region, government, businesses, and church from the Lord God. This caused her husband, her children, and many more to die far from God in horrible deaths.
3) Jezebel supports anyone who or anything that will damage or destroy the prophetic truth of the word of God. She hates men and women who teach God’s word with authority and truth.

4) Her house is out of God’s order.
Ephesians 5:22-24 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
I realize some of you women just shivered. I always remind husbands that to have a wife like this, you must love and be willing to die for her (Eph 5:25). Ladies, if you want God’s blessings upon you, your home, and your children, nurture this attitude. It’s an act of worship of God, not worship of your husband.
5) Jezebel will never repent. Her defiance will eventually bring her destruction and being devoured.
The bottom line is do not tolerate that woman Jezebel in your region, your government, your business, your family, or your church.
