The eagle temperament could be called the rich temperament. It is the temperament blessed with abilities and giftings. These are the very brainy people. In fact, the world’s geniuses have been and are of this temperament. While tremendously talented, they appear tremendously critical. This criticism is not only of others but of themselves. So, when they store criticism of themselves inwardly, it will stymie their genius and cause them to become nonproductive.
The eagle temperament trait is the natural perfectionist.
Mark these people by their love for the fine arts, analytical nature, and lifelong commitment to a few close friends. They are also very moody, pessimistic, and, as already stated, critical. These traits cause the eagle temperament to seem withdrawn although this is not true. Usually, they withdraw because people do not live up to the eagle temperament’s expectations.
Our eagle temperament study will take a look at Moses. Given the amount of information we have about Moses, we easily determine Moses is full of eagle temperament.
The dictionary defines “Competent” as one being “properly or sufficiently qualified and capable.”
Moses was an extremely competent person because we see the brilliant success shown in the call upon his life. To our awareness, there are no others who could compare to the competency of Moses other than Jesus Christ. Educated in the best locations for forty years, Moses understood architecture, building, working with people, writing, and history. The scriptures say of Moses, “And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds” (Acts 7:22). Eagle temperaments possess a love for learning and knowledge. However, a more exact way of saying this is eagle temperaments respect education and knowledge. Also, they love to learn and respect those who have acquired knowledge.
Other temperaments tend to slight knowledge, but not Moses.
A simple investigation shows how the ability to lead millions of people for forty years in a wilderness situation required a large amount of knowledge. Moses was extremely competent.
The definition for “Complex” is “consisting of interconnected or interwoven parts; composite; involved or intricate, as in structure; complicated. Relating to grammar. a. Consisting of at least one bound form. Consisting of an independent clause and at least one other independent or dependent clause.”
I used the thought of grammar because grammar, to me, helps describe the complexities of the eagle temperament. These people are made up of one already complex part connected with other independent and dependent parts attached. I never totally understand the eagle temperament person, and I am fair at understanding temperaments and people. Inside their brains are all these interconnected aspects. They, of all the temperaments, are the most difficult to scan and understand.
Often, the decisions made by eagle temperaments do not compute to other temperaments. However, to the eagle, their decisions make perfect sense. For example, the Bible says of Moses, “By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God…” (Heb 11:24, 25). Moses forsook the comforts of Egypt, but not for a better job or any logical reason. He forsook Egypt to shepherd sheep and to suffer affliction with the people of God. Moses’ decision does not compute in the thinking of most people. We can be sure, though, the calculating eagle temperament analyzed this move long before he made it. I’m aware Moses ran from Egypt after killing an Egyptian and burying the Egyptian in the sand but then going to tend sheep in the wilderness? Really?
